Armadillidium depressum "Magic Potion"
Keeping parameters:
- Temperature: 20–26 °C
- Humidity: moderate
- Ventilation/Air circulation: medium to high
- Difficulty level: easy-medium
The isopods are sold in groups of 10. Armadillidium depressum "Magic Potion" is a particularly striking color morph of Armadillidium depressum, characterized by its creamy white to yellowish base color with irregular darker speckles. Due to its high-contrast pattern and heavily arched, robust body, this form is one of the most popular decorative Armadillidium morphs in the hobby.
These animals are from our own breeding stock. Originally, these isopods come from Western Europe. When purchased, the isopods are shipped in mixed age and size stages to ensure an optimal start for a successful breeding colony.
The isopods feed on various forest materials such as rotten wood and leaf litter. In addition, supplementary feeds such as calcium (e.g., limestone or cuttlebone) and protein should be offered as part of a balanced diet. They also enjoy various vegetables. Vegetables from the onion family (garlic, leeks, onions) should be avoided, as should iceberg lettuce.
A well-ventilated terrarium with both moister and drier areas (humidity gradient) supports stable keeping and good reproduction. Waterlogging should be avoided. A stable calcium supply is particularly important for shell development.
