Armadillidium espanyoli "Marbleized"

The isopods are sold in groups of 10. Armadillidium espanyoli "Marbleized" is a particularly decorative color morph of Armadillidium espanyoli, characterized by its marbled black-and-white to gray-and-white pattern. The animals have a heavily armored body and their high-contrast markings make them particularly striking in the terrarium.

These animals are from our own breeding stock. Originally, these isopods come from Spain. When purchased, the isopods are shipped in mixed age and size groups to ensure an optimal start for a successful breeding colony.

The isopods feed on various forest materials such as decaying wood and leaf litter. In addition, supplementary feeds such as calcium (e.g., limestone or cuttlebone) and proteins should be offered as part of a balanced diet. Various vegetables are also readily accepted. Vegetables from the onion family (garlic, leeks, onions) should be avoided, as should iceberg lettuce.

A well-ventilated terrarium with wetter and drier areas (humidity gradient) supports stable keeping and good reproduction. Waterlogging should be avoided. This species particularly benefits from calcium-rich areas for stable shell development.
