Cubaris murina

The isopods are sold in groups of 10. Cubaris murina is a very robust and widespread species of pillbugs (woodlice), characterized by its compact body structure and high adaptability. It usually exhibits a grey to slightly bluish coloration and is considered one of the easiest Cubaris species to keep in the hobby.

These animals are from our own breeding stock. When purchased, the isopods are shipped in mixed age and size stages to ensure an optimal start for a successful breeding colony.

The isopods feed on various forest materials such as decaying wood and leaf litter. Additionally, supplemental feeds like calcium (e.g., limestone or cuttlebone) and protein should be offered as part of a balanced diet. Various vegetables are also readily accepted. Vegetables from the onion family (garlic, leeks, onions) should be avoided, as should iceberg lettuce.

A moist but well-ventilated terrarium with clear dry and moist areas (humidity gradient) supports stable husbandry and very good reproduction. Waterlogging should be avoided.
