The isopods are sold in groups of 10. Laureola sp. 'Durian Spiky' is an extraordinary and rare exotic isopod species, characterized by its highly structured, spiky body. The distinctive protrusions on its shell visually resemble the surface of a durian fruit, from which this form gets its name. Due to its unusual appearance, it is one of the more sought-after specialty species in the hobby.

These animals are from our own breeding. Originally, these isopods come from Vietnam. When purchased, the isopods are shipped in mixed age and size stages to ensure an optimal start for a successful breeding colony.

The isopods feed on various forest materials such as rotten wood, white-rot wood, and leaf litter. In addition, supplementary feeds such as calcium (e.g., cuttlefish bone or limestone) and proteins should be offered as part of a balanced diet. Various vegetables are also readily accepted. Vegetables from the onion family (garlic, leeks, onions) should be avoided, as should iceberg lettuce.

A consistently slightly damp but well-ventilated terrarium with many hiding places and a pronounced humidity gradient is crucial for successful keeping. Waterlogging should absolutely be avoided, as more sensitive tropical species can react poorly to inadequate air circulation.
