The isopods are sold in groups of 10. Armadillidium beirei is a highly sought-after species of spiny isopods (roly-polies/woodlice) characterized by their heavily armored bodies that shine shimmeringly under bright light.
These animals are from our own breeding. The origin of this lineage is from Greece. When purchased, the isopods are shipped in mixed age and size stages to ensure an optimal start for a successful breeding colony.
The isopods feed on various forest materials such as rotten wood and leaf litter. Additionally, supplementary feeds such as calcium (e.g., limestone or cuttlebone) and proteins should be offered as part of a balanced diet. Various vegetables are also readily accepted. Vegetables from the onion family (garlic, leeks, onions) should be avoided, as should iceberg lettuce.
A well-ventilated terrarium with humid and drier areas supports successful keeping and breeding. Waterlogging should be avoided.
