Armadillidium granulatum "Orange"

The isopods are sold in groups of 10. Armadillidium granulatum "Orange" is a striking color morph of Armadillidium granulatum, characterized by its vibrant orange to yellowish-orange coloration. Typical for this species is also the distinctly granular, structured shell surface, which gives it a robust appearance. Due to its intense coloration, this morph is one of the most popular variants in the hobby.

These animals are from our own breeding. Originally, these isopods come from Spain. When purchased, the isopods are shipped in mixed age and size stages to ensure an optimal start for a successful breeding colony.

The isopods feed on various forest materials such as rotten wood and leaf litter. In addition, supplementary feeds such as calcium (e.g., limestone or cuttlebone) and proteins should be offered as part of a balanced diet. Various vegetables are also readily accepted. Vegetables from the onion family (garlic, leeks, onions) should be avoided, as should iceberg lettuce.

A well-ventilated terrarium with wetter and drier areas (humidity gradient) supports stable keeping and good reproduction. Waterlogging should be avoided. Sufficient calcium supply is particularly important for healthy shell development.
