The isopods are sold in groups of 10. Armadillidium maculatum is a very popular and easily recognizable species of pill bug, characterized by its black and white "zebra" pattern. Its high-contrast pattern and robust, heavily armored body shape make it one of the classic and particularly beginner-friendly species in the hobby.

These animals are from our own breeding stock. Originally, these isopods come from France. When purchased, the isopods are sent in mixed age and size stages to ensure an optimal start for a successful breeding colony.

Isopods feed on various forest materials such as decaying wood and leaf litter. Additionally, supplementary foods like calcium (e.g., cuttlebone or limestone) and proteins should be offered as part of a balanced diet. Various vegetables are also readily accepted. Vegetables from the onion family (garlic, leek, onions) should be avoided, as should iceberg lettuce.

A well-ventilated terrarium with moderately moist and drier areas (humidity gradient) supports stable keeping and good reproduction. Waterlogging should be avoided. Regular calcium supply is particularly important for shell development.
