The isopods are sold in groups of 10. Armadillidium serratum is an attractive and rather rarely kept species of pill bug, characterized by its finely textured armor and variable gray-brown coloration. Characteristic of this species is its compact body structure and slightly rough surface, which gives it a distinctive appearance.

These animals are from our own breeding stock. These isopods originally come from the Mediterranean region. When purchased, the isopods are shipped in mixed age and size stages to ensure an optimal start for a successful breeding colony.

The isopods feed on various forest materials such as decaying wood and leaf litter. In addition, supplementary feeds such as calcium (e.g., limestone or cuttlebone) and proteins should be offered as part of a balanced diet. Various vegetables are also readily accepted. Vegetables from the onion family (garlic, leeks, onions) should be avoided, as well as iceberg lettuce.

A well-ventilated terrarium with wetter and drier areas supports successful keeping and breeding. Waterlogging should be avoided.
