Armadillidium sp "Lefkada"

The isopods are sold in groups of 10. Armadillidium sp. "Lefkada" is an exceptional and sought-after species of pill bugs (woodlice), characterized by its high-contrast markings and strongly armored body. This form owes its name to the Greek island of Lefkada, where the original lineage comes from. Due to its striking appearance and relatively rare availability, this species is considered one of the special isopods in the hobby.

These animals are from our own breeding. When purchased, the isopods are shipped in mixed age and size stages to ensure an optimal start for a successful breeding colony.

The isopods feed on various forest materials such as decaying wood and leaf litter. In addition, supplementary feeds such as calcium (e.g., limestone or cuttlebone) and proteins should be offered as part of a balanced diet. Various vegetables are also readily accepted. Vegetables from the onion family (garlic, leek, onions) should be avoided, as well as iceberg lettuce.

A well-ventilated terrarium with both humid and drier areas supports successful keeping and breeding. Waterlogging should be avoided. Stable conditions and sufficient calcium sources are particularly important for the healthy development of the exoskeleton.
