Armadillidium werneri "Red/Orange"

The isopods are sold in groups of 10. Armadillidium werneri "Red/Orange" is an attractive color morph of Armadillidium werneri, characterized by its intensely reddish to orange base color. The animals have a robust, well-armored body and look particularly decorative in the terrarium due to their intense coloration.

These animals are from our own breeding stock. These isopods originally come from Greece. When purchased, the isopods are shipped in mixed age and size stages to ensure an optimal start for a successful breeding colony.

The isopods feed on various forest materials such as rotten wood and leaf litter. In addition, supplementary feeds such as calcium (e.g., cuttlebone or limestone) and protein should be offered as part of a balanced diet. Various vegetables are also readily accepted. Vegetables from the onion family (garlic, leeks, onions) should be avoided, as should iceberg lettuce.

A well-ventilated terrarium with moderately moist to drier areas (humidity gradient) supports stable keeping and good reproduction. Waterlogging should be avoided, while a constant calcium supply supports shell development.
