The isopods are sold in groups of 10. Armadillo officinalis "Red/Brown" is an attractive color morph of Armadillo officinalis, characterized by its reddish-brown to chestnut basic coloration. Characteristic of this species is its heavily armored body and its perfect ability to roll up completely. Due to its natural coloring and calm behavior, this form is one of the popular Mediterranean pillbugs in the hobby.

These animals are from our own breeding. These isopods originally come from the Mediterranean region. When purchased, the isopods are shipped in mixed age and size stages to ensure an optimal start for a successful breeding colony.

The isopods feed on various forest materials such as decaying wood and leaf litter. In addition, supplementary feed such as calcium (e.g., limestone or cuttlebone) and proteins should be offered as part of a balanced diet. Various vegetables are also readily accepted. Vegetables from the onion family (garlic, leeks, onions) should be avoided, as should iceberg lettuce.

A well-ventilated terrarium with drier and slightly moist areas (humidity gradient) supports stable keeping and successful reproduction. Waterlogging should be avoided at all costs. Calcium-rich areas promote healthy shell development.
