Venezillo parvus "Orange"

The isopods are sold in groups of 10. Venezillo parvus "Orange" is a small and attractive color morph of Venezillo parvus, characterized by its orange to orange-brown coloration and compact body. Despite their rather small size, the animals are active and can often be observed under suitable conditions.

These animals are from our own breeding stock. Originally, these isopods come from North America and Europe. When purchased, the isopods are shipped in mixed age and size stages to ensure an optimal start for a successful breeding colony.

The isopods feed on various forest materials such as decaying wood and leaf litter. Additionally, supplementary feeds such as calcium (e.g., limestone or cuttlebone) and proteins should be offered as part of a balanced diet. Various vegetables are also readily accepted. Vegetables from the onion family (garlic, leek, onions) should be avoided, as well as iceberg lettuce.

A well-structured terrarium with wetter and somewhat drier areas (humidity gradient) supports stable keeping and good reproduction. Due to their smaller body size, the animals particularly benefit from fine foliage, white-rotten wood, and many hiding places.
